Heating efficiency saves money and keeps your house warm
Many people don’t realise the importance of maintaining a high temperature within the stove and flue to get the most efficient burning of logs.
If a stove doesn’t reach the ideal temperature ( > 500 degrees Farenheit) it can result in it producing smoke and vapour. In order to burn efficiently a stove is designed to burn the smoke, this is often referred to as a secondary combustion. There can be a number of factors that slow down the achievement of that temperature and most often it is the operator as they shut down the air flow to their stoves before they reach the optimum temperature.
- For boiler stoves – it is a good idea to use a flue thermostat and in a ?wet? stove; this will determine when the pump is switched on and thus prevent ?stripping? the firebox of too much heat which would result in an incomplete secondary combustion
- For a Dry stove – a simple mechanical thermostat that has a magnetic fixing for easy positioning on the stove body ? this will help the operator keep the fire burning at the optimum temperature thus resulting in more heat from less wood.
Is your flue open to the elements or protected by one of our efficient Cowls – As mentioned earlier, getting the stove to operate at an efficient temperature is essential but one of the difficulties in achieving a high temperature quickly is often the need to heat the air in the flue, fitting a specially designed cowl will help this.
- Rain
- Birds
- Vermin
- Leaves
- and other debris which can block a flue
- They will improve the draw of a flue
- And they will prevent downdrafts which can create a sooty smell when not in use.
Hetas engineers, plumbers and installers- following our recent launch of our on-line shop we are getting sales from around the country and often our non-trade customers ask if we know or can recommend anyone in their area to advise or install. We do maintain a database of businesses and tradesmen for marketing new and innovative product to the trade but we can’t keep track of what types of business you’d perhaps like us to introduce.
