There is a wide choice of room heaters to choose from and picking the correct one can be difficult when you are faced with such a large choice.
Tall narrow radiators often known as designer radiators are seen as a modern alternative to the pressed steel convection radiators. The traditional place to locate a radiator is under a window which is possible the worst and least efficient place to put them. Full length curtains will cover the radiator blocking all the heat from coming to the room; or in the case of short curtains half the convection heating is directed towards the window as it is diverted by the folds in the curtains. A vertical radiator with large output will fit neatly into a space often disregarded by a conventional pressed steel radiator. The modern radiators are available in all different colours and styles and add an exciting feature to a room.
Aluminium radiators have a quicker reaction time heating up and cooling down more quickly than conventional steel radiators. Cast iron radiators on the other hand have a much slower response time and can be considered in some ways similar to a storage heater. Cast iron radiators are decorative and functional at the same time.
When the source of heat is from an open fire with a back boiler, the cast iron radiators can be a very effective system as the heat can continue radiating from the cast iron radiator long after the fire has gone out.
