War in the Middle East – More reasons why your home should have a wood burning stove.

There has always been conflict around the world for as long as I can remember and with a world economy structured as it is a distant war can have major affect on living conditions at home.
Conflicts in oil and gas producing regions such as the Middle East can lead to fuel prices altering quickly and with serious effect. For home owners who drive a petrol or diesel powered car this can have a dramatic effect on finances and can leave one feeling vulnerable, anxious and a victim of something that is far from their control.
Taking control of the home heating is just one area of the budget that you can affect. A combination of wood burning stoves and solar panels can minimize the impact and give you independence from the oil and gas prices. The level of independence can vary from having the ability to just heat one room to having a full central heating system. The options don’t stop there; it is possible to have fully integrated heating systems that runs on gas/oil and wood at the same time and this can be further enhanced with solar thermal.
To further improve your energy control there is the option of solar pv to create electricity and home batteries to help with power during the time when there is no daylight.
There is no sign that the world is becoming more stable and there is no sign that energy prices will drop significantly. All the wind turbines and nuclear power stations that are being proposed will be government controlled and unless you have total faith in the way they are operated and controlled it is wise move to try and minimise your dependence on them.
You may not be able to afford to change your whole system but the question has to be reversed and posed, can you afford not to take some steps to becoming more independent?
The sun will keep shining and this is a generous supply of energy which is available to capture,
Trees can be grown locally in relatively short time periods and are easy to convert to fuel.
It is not so easy to grow an oil field!
